We offer
an active and investigative approach to learning in, about and
for the environment which is fun and extends students' experience,
appreciation and understanding of the world in which they live.
Key
Stage 2 courses support National Curriculum Science,
History and Geography requirements and can tie in closely with
the QCA schemes of work. They also give opportunities for using
and developing key skills and concepts in 'real life' situations.
'A'
Level courses cover the basic sampling and statistical
techniques of fieldwork in 'classic' environments, equipping students
with the necessary skills and concepts for extended coursework
investigations. They also give first hand experience of processes,
habitats and landscapes providing the vital link between textbook
theory and reality.
Residential
Courses of 3 - 5 days duration are available throughout
the year. Programmes are designed by Centre staff in partnership
with school staff to support the topics, schemes of work or syllabuses
being taught in school. Choose from a wide range of carefully
formulated options or ask for a 'tailor made' alternative to meet
your groups specific PSE and learning needs.
During residential
courses students benefit from:
· Stimulating and motivating learning opportunities
· The chance to explore, discover and investigate, linking
first hand experience to classroom theory
· Time to undertake extended pieces of work
· Time to have fun together
· Opportunities for personal and social development
· A chance to develop new skills and competencies
· Shared experiences between teacher and students
· A chance to 'shine' in new ways
Day
Courses are also offered at Wells Field Study Centre
covering a wide range of topics tailored to your requirements.
